Checked before it is issued: how a design is reviewed

The quality assurance steps that sit between a design calculation and a construction site — and why each one is there.

TEKNICON applies quality assurance procedures that prescribe the checks and audits needed to ensure the soundness, correctness and interface compatibility of engineering solutions.

Design calculations and drawings are technically reviewed before they are issued. Structural, civil, architectural, mechanical, electrical and quantity surveying inputs are coordinated, so the drawings that reach site agree with one another.

During construction the checking continues: regular site inspections and reporting, review of contractor submissions, and monitoring of quality, schedule, budget and compliance with the contract documents.

The last step is close-out — final inspections, and support through the Defects Liability Period where it applies.
